The investor is enthusiastic about the new line

The first snow was falling, at times rather heavily, in Lubenec in the Podbořany area on 10 November; even such weather, however, could not thwart the social event scheduled for that very day. In the morning, several dozens of people came together at the new post-harvest line of the Botep Plus spol. s r. o. company to participate in its christening ceremony.

The Pawlica s. r. o. company, a prominent supplier of post-harvest technologies in the Czech Republic, organizes christening ceremonies of post-harvest lines regularly every year. Although this year’s christening was rather frosty, it was very successful in other respects; particularly thanks to the great enthusiasm and satisfaction expressed by the owners of the new post-harvest line with the construction delivered.

A long way to better-quality production

The Botep Plus, spol. s. r. o. company has carried business in agriculture since 1992. It started farming on 100ha of leased land with about a hundred of dairy cows. In the next years, the company added more hectares of land and began to exert cross-breeding aimed at obtaining cows for meat production. As revealed by Ing. Zdeněk Beneš, one of the four partners, the crucial turning point came in 1998, when the company was already cultivating about 950 ha of arable land. “We found out that out business conditions are not optimum and therefore we were losing a part of our profit. For instance, we had problems with acceptance of goods, quantity as well as quality discounts. We were seeking a way of its improvement,” Ing. Beneš explains the situation of that day. The first crucial step was the purchase of storage premises with 11 small silos and a receipt basket. “Finally, we were able to clean, store and sell a final product of a better quality. Suddenly we realized that economy in the fields could be much better than before,” he adds. In 2002, the company increased the acreage again; at the same time, we leased an older post-harvest line with silos, cleaning, drying and a hall. Thus the storage capacity was increased to 5000 t. “After the business crisis in 2004, which was a year with above-average yields, we started to search for markets in Germany. This was another significant step we made. We found out that it worked very well and mutual satisfaction governed. The Germans obtained fine, balanced lots from us, while we had ensured trouble-free business. This has been in operation to this day,” Ing. Beneš explains further.

The new post-harvest line has long been planned

Although the lease of the post-harvest line opened new possibilities to the company, it was further necessary to increase the storage capacity together with speed and quality of post-harvest treatment. For the area of the cultivated land already exceeds 2 000 ha. “We have wanted to build a new post-harvest line for several years in as much as the customers’ demands on the quality of commodities are ever increasing. Moreover, we were limited by huge handling costs, storage and quantity losses and. last but not least, the low cleaning and drying output as well. We were, however, short on time for all administrative preparation. Yet our colleague, Ing. Pavel Brzobohatý, helped us solve this problem, then we were able to start acting. We began to raise money and select suppliers. All of that took two years,” Ing. Beneš reveals.

Bet on the right card

As his colleague Pavel Sajfrid adds, seven applicants participated in the selection process of the new post-harvest line. They obtained the input data, on the basis of which they offered a technical solution and price. The basic requirement was storage of 15,000 t in combination with efficient drying, cleaning and transport routes. “Three suppliers were short-listed. However, we liked the solution by the Pawlica s. r. o. company most as it was very simple, efficient as well as financially available. I can already see after this harvest that we have bet on the right card,” Sajfrid admits. As he adds, the construction preparation was executed in August and September 2015; owing to complications with obtaining the building licence, however, the beginning of actual construction was postponed until March 2016. Therefore, the building company was very busy so that everything could be completed until the harvest. “The construction went on unbelievably quickly; fortunately, no complications came up, so we were able to store the first grain within functional tests as early as mid-August. I have to say that it has been an incredible change for the better. The harvest is much quicker and simpler. We are glad that all that came out well and now we are only enjoying the view of our new post-harvest line,” says Sajfrid in conclusion.

Technologies delivered

A complete post-harvest line for 15000t was built on a green field at Lubenec. It includes an acceptance hall with a basket, which performs the function of a dispatch hall at the same time as it also includes dispatch tanks with tensometric weighing. The transport routes are designed for the output of 120 t/h, as well as the receipt basket and the RUBERG RVS 120 cleaning machine. In front of the acceptance hall, the Pawlica TruckScale road weigh bridge with 60t carrying capacity is mounted; naturally, there is also the possibility of automatic sampling by means of the Pfeuffer Rakoraf sampler. The subsequent sample analysis is executed by means of the laboratory device GRANOLYSER. The investor highly appreciates this device for its speed and comprehensive design. Storage on the line is solved by means of ten zinc-coated BIN silos of Polish manufacture (the crops are divided in the silos according to the content of nitrogen substances). Drying is carried out on a grain drying machine of the STELA GDB-TN 1/6 S mark, output of 20 t/h, with a propane-butane burner. The material transport is solved by means of the Heavy Duty conveyers, which is the highest-duty series of the Swedish manufacturer SKANDIA. This year, the Pawlica s. r. o. company has implemented about fifteen constructions for storing of over 130 thousand tons of grain, not only in the Czech Republic, but also abroad.

From 2017, service technicians of the Pawlica company will drive out to their customers in a new service car. This pretty boy is looking forward to its first ride already!
